What will happen if my car is financed by a bank and I want to sell it to CARS24?

If the car you want to sell is financed, simply bring along a current dated foreclosure letter issued by the bank and we will pay the loan on your car. The settlement amount will be deducted from the CARS24 quote for your car. Alternatively, you can settle the loan yourself before selling the car to us. CARS24 may hold back a certain amount until the bank loan clearance NOC is submitted by you.

Your website quote does not match my expectations. Why should I visit your branch?

The website quote is an estimated value range generated by our pricing algorithm based on some broad parameters like car make and model, variant, odometer reading and other details that you enter on the website. The final price quote offered also takes into consideration the physical condition of your vehicle as evaluated during the inspection process and market conditions.

I cannot find my car’s registration state while booking the appointment online.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

Is it mandatory to book an appointment?

Yes. By booking an appointment with us, you are reserving your dedicated slot to be catered to by one of our associates at the branch. In case, you drop in at any of our branches without having an appointment booked, you will be asked to book one on the spot. This will lead to unnecessary wastage of time and efforts which we tend to avoid. We are serving several customers at a time and our goal is to ensure all of them receive the same kind of experience. Why is there a difference between the online valuation and the actual price offered at the branch?

The online valuation indicates the estimated range you can get for your car considering it is in a picture-perfect condition. The detailed inspection conducted at the branch which determines the physical health and working of the car’s components decides what the final quote offered will be. The factors that impact the value of your car include the car make, aesthetics and mechanical condition, odometer reading and market conditions.

What all do you check during the inspection of my car?

Our used car inspection process is fair and thorough to ensure an objective standardized report that gives a clear view of the condition of your car. We start with a document check and test drive and then use the latest tools to assess the exterior, tires, engine, transmission, interiors and electricals. We also inspect the steering mechanism, suspension, brakes and accessories of your car during the test drive. Feel free to ask any questions from our team at the branch.

How long will my car's inspection take?

At CARS24, we evaluate a used car on the basis of several parameters. Our dedicated car experts are trained to complete the entire process of car inspection within a time period of 30-45 minutes. However, there might be instances, pertaining to different car conditions, when the car inspection process may even extend to 90 minutes.

I got an SMS to check in, where do I have to check in at the branch?

One of our branch team members will come to you and assist you with the check-in process, provided you have booked an appointment beforehand. Please ensure that you get the check-in done as soon as you enter the branch so that you are queued in for the inspection process to start.

Till when are your branches open?

Our branches generally operate from 10 am - 6 pm. We recommend you to reach our branch by 5 pm to avoid any hassle or delay. Please note that there might be some branches across India which do not operate on a certain day of the week. When you try booking an appointment for a time slot, you can view if your preferred branch is operational on that particular time and day or not.

Can I send my driver to get the inspection done?

Yes, you can. However, you must ensure that your driver carries all the required documents to get the car inspected. Also, please note that the owner of the car needs to self-attest all the documents involved. We will also need the bank account details of the registered owner of the car to initiate the transaction.

After 24 hours, we re-initiate the inspection process of your car and try to offer the best possible price.

Why is the quote valid only for 24 hours?

The price offered to you for your car depends on the current demand of that particular make and model. We work with several channel partners across India who actively bid to buy your car according to the demand they have. Due to this, the price we offer to you cannot be valid for more than 24 hours.

What all factors impact the price of my car?

Car Condition:

  1. Your car’s basic details: Like variant, age, production status, ownership serial, registration state, insurance status etc.
  2. Your car’s condition: Our ISO certified inspection report captures the as-is condition of your car- Any additional features you have installed or any refurbishment work needed in your car

How do you determine the price of my car?

Your car's quote depends on several factors like the demand for its brand, model of the car, kilometers covered, registration and physical condition. At CARS24, an estimated value range is first given to you based only on the details you enter on the website considering the car to be in picture-perfect condition. The final price offered also takes into consideration the physical condition of your vehicle as evaluated during the inspection process and market conditions.

Transaction Guidelines

I did not get the full amount as promised at the branch, why did that happen?

There are different reasons why that may have happened. CARS24 may levy certain deductions to facilitate the transaction or in case of non-fulfillment of requirements by the seller. These include deductions for the delay in car delivery, hypothecation removal, existing challans on the vehicle, missing duplicate key, expired insurance, non-availability of original RC, etc. These deductions are non-refundable.

In some cases, some amount may be held back which is released once you comply with the requirements. These include:

1. Bank Loan NOC: In the event that your car was financed by a bank, the NOC from the bank must be presented stating that the loan amount has been paid off. In case the NOC isn’t available, some amount is held back till the NOC is submitted. This amount varies depending on the final price offered for your car.

2. Party Peshi: The RTOs of certain states require the presence of the vehicle owner in order to initiate the transfer of RC. In this case, an amount of Rs 10000 is held back until you comply with the process.

3. Inter-State Transfer: In case the vehicle is to be cleared for inter-state migration, an amount of Rs 10000 is held back and released within 21 Days provided there is no transfer document discrepancy.

What happens if I cancel the deal after signing the documents?

We strive to offer a hassle-free experience to our customers as well as our channel partners. If you wish to cancel the deal after the token amount has been paid, you will have to return the token amount and pay a cancellation charge of Rs. 5000. This charge is to compensate for the overhead cost of the entire transaction and any monetary loss that our channel partner who booked this car incurred due to this cancellation. Please remember, no cancellation is possible once the delivery amount has been paid.

What if I don't get the amount within the stipulated time?

We make sure to process the total amount once all the documentation is complete. Please note that some amount could be held back if all the requirements are not met. If you wish to understand any hold back amount on your invoice, please reach out to us at 1800 258 5656.

How long will it take for the payment to be transferred to my account?

There are two ways in which you can receive the payment for your car.

1. Instant Payment: If you avail this facility, you will receive the payment on the same day of signing the deal.*

2. Deferred Payment: Through the deferred payment option, we credit the car selling amount within a time span of 3-4 working days.

*Please note that we charge a nominal fee for instant payment. For Home Inspection, this facility is not available.

What is Service Charge and is it mandatory?

When you sell your car to us, we levy a nominal service charge. This will be based on the CARS24 Offer Price of your car. Details on the applicable service charges will be shared with you after your car's inspection at our branch.

How long will it take for the RC to be transferred from my name?

The timeline of RC transfer might vary depending on the availability of the prospective buyer and the RTO requirements. However, you don't need to worry about it at all. All our customers are covered under the CARS24 Seller Protection Policy, which means until your car's RC transfer is complete, we take full responsibility for the safety of your vehicle. Once the ownership has been transferred, we will send you an email with the proof of RC transfer.

Where can I check my current RC transfer status of my car?

There is some pending amount for my car, when will I get it back?

If there is some pending amount for the sale of your car, please refer to the transaction guidelines to understand why the amount may have been held back. What happens to my car after you buy it?

CARS24 works on a customer to business model wherein, after we buy your car, we sell it to one of our channel partners across India. Our channel partners further sell it to an end user.

What is the CARS24 Seller Protection Policy?

CARS24 Seller Protection Policy is an exclusive programme offered by CARS24 to protect the customers selling their car from any unwarranted post-sale situations. This means that till the car’s Registration Certificate (RC) is transferred in the name of the buyer, we will take care of any hassles related to the car, for sellers covered under the policy.

If there is any unforeseen incident with your car while the RC transfer is in process, our legal experts will extend full support, and all legal and financial expenses* are covered by us. All you have to do is call our helpline number- 1800 258 5656. We take full responsibility for safeguarding the interests of our sellers before the ownership of their cars is transferred.

Who is covered under the CARS24 Seller Protection Policy?

The Customers (Registered Owners of the Vehicle) who have provided the physical delivery of the vehicle to CARS24, or have taken the RC transfer facility from CARS24 are covered under this policy. 

Please note that customers who sell directly to an end customer through CARS24 but do not avail the RC transfer facility, sign a waiver form and are not covered under this policy.

What is covered under CARS24 Seller Protection Policy?

The CARS24 Seller Protection Policy provides you with threefold benefits once you sell your car with us.

Is the CARS24 Protection Policy an insurance programme for my car?

No, the Seller Protection Policy is to protect and safeguard the concerns or issues of our Sellers against any legal troubles that they might have to bear till the RC of the respective Vehicle is transferred to the Buyer. This is not and should not be treated to be an alternative for your vehicle insurance. All buyers must get the insurance transferred in their name as soon as they get the delivery of the vehicle.

Does the Protection Policy cost anything? What is the coverage period?

You are automatically covered under our Seller Protection Policy once you sell your car to CARS24 or opt for RC Transfer Facility from CARS24. The coverage is applicable from the date of physical delivery of Vehicle to CARS24 or the date on the RC Transfer Facility Form, whichever is applicable, till the RC ownership is transferred in name of Buyer. You don’t have to pay any premium for the same.

How do I claim cover under Seller Protection Policy?

If there is any untoward incident and you are contacted by the law enforcement agencies or government authorities or receive any communication from them - Follow these steps: 

  1. Share the CARS24 transaction documents with the authorities

What are the terms & conditions to be eligible for the coverage under this policy?

  1. You (Registered owner of the car)-

    • should have provided physical delivery of the Vehicle to CARS24, OR

    • You have signed the CARS24 RC Facility Form that states that CARS24 will help you get Registration Certificate of the vehicle transferred

  2. There is no breach of the Terms & Conditions as on the Application Form, and/or the RC Transfer Facility Form and all other T&Cs

  3. The issue/case comes to the knowledge of CARS24 in appropriate time

  4. The issue/case is being allowed to be handled exclusively by CARS24 for and on your behalf

  5. The coverage is applicable from the date of physical delivery of Vehicle with CARS24 or the date on the RC Transfer Facility Form, till the RC ownership is transferred in name of Buyer

The policy will NOT be applicable if

  1. In case of non-submission of any documents or non-fulfillment of requisite formalities required by the government authorities or CARS24, including but not limited to presence at RTO, Loan NOC from bank in case of hypothecation, RTO NOC in case of interstate vehicles, etc. CARS24 shall not be liable for any default or discrepancy in the documents of whatsoever nature and the policy will stand void

  2. There are any encumbrances on the vehicle and/or violations under applicable laws

  3. The Seller has signed the RC Self-Transfer Consent Form

  4. Seller assigns any such issue/case to a lawyer/third party of their own choice

I have a T permit or commercial car, can I get it inspected with CARS24?

We understand the pain and hassles of selling commercial vehicles. There is no streamlined process or a go-to destination where one can visit and get their commercial vehicle sold at once. However, we do not currently buy commercial vehicles. We would be happy to purchase any privately-owned cars you may be planning to sell.

My car is registered outside India - Can you buy this car?

No, we only buy cars registered in India.

Do you buy cars registered in the name of a company

Yes, we do buy company-registered cars. In additional to the documents mentioned previously, please bring along the following documents

What if I decide to take my car to the branch instead of getting a home inspection done?

What should I do in case I have to cancel the appointment? Will I be charged for the cancellation?

What should I do in case I have a change of plans and I am not available for the home inspection?

What if my car is not moving. Can I still get the inspection done for my car?

Our car evaluators will inspect the car on multiple parameters - exteriors, interiors, engine quality and a short test drive to be able to generate a fair, unbiased inspection report. If your car is to be scrapped, we will be able to do the inspection as per that of a non-moving car. But if it’s not a scrap car, we request you to please get the car in a moving condition before the evaluator reaches your location. 

For example, in case it is a battery issue, you may ask your local mechanic to jump-start the battery before the evaluator reaches your place, and highlight the same to the car evaluator before the inspection begins.

What if I have 2 or more cars to be inspected?

We request you to book separate appointments if you have more than one car to be inspected.

What if I cancel my booking?

How is my loan eligibility determined?

Checking your loan eligibility is a quick and easy process. All you need to do is fill in a few details while booking, like your income details, residence ownership information and credit history.

What documents do I need to apply for finance?

If you're applying for a loan, you'll need a bank statement for the last 6 months, your PAN card, Aadhar card, income proof, and address proof.

How much of the car's price can I get the loan for?

You can have the car fully financed by applying for the Zero Down Payment facility! The exact amount of financing that you are eligible for will be confirmed by our team once you submit all the relevant documents for loan approval.

What are the interest rates applicable?

This will depend on certain factors like the specific car you intend to buy and your credit score. You can check your loan eligibility while booking a test drive for a car and once you share the required documents with us, the concerned team will analyse your profile and share the exact offer and loan terms with you.

How long does the loan approval process take?

It takes around 24 hours to generate the loan offer after submitting the required documents.

Are there any additional charges applicable for taking a loan?

Once your loan is approved, a minimal processing fee of 2% of the loan amount is charged upfront at the time of disbursal. Additionally, charges for a Car Health Monitor will be applicable.

Can I avail a loan myself from a bank of my choice?

What if I take a loan but want to return my car within 7 days?

What is Autopay and why is it required?

Autopay automates EMI payments by debiting the due amount directly from your bank account, ensuring that no payments are missed. You will need to provide your debit card/netbanking details to set up Autopay using e-mandate.

I don’t have a debit card or netbanking registration, what can I do?

In such a scenario, you can inform your car advisor about this and we will help set up alternative Autopay options such as Aadhaar NACH or Paper NACH.

Does Autopay come with a charge?

Your bank may charge a small fee for Autopay registration. The fee may vary depending on the bank.

My bank doesn’t support Autopay, what can I do?

In such a scenario, you can inform your car advisor about this and we will help set up alternative Autopay options such as Aadhaar NACH or Paper NACH.

Why did my Autopay set up fail?

Autopay setup may fail due to incorrect debit card/netbanking details provided by you or technical issues on the bank's end.

In case you have entered incorrect details, please try again with the correct details. It is recommended to wait for 30 minutes before trying again.

I don't have my PAN card with me for KYC, what can I do?

A PAN card is mandatory for KYC, or you will need to proceed with physical KYC.

What is a physical KYC?

For physical KYC, you must provide self-attested copies of any of the following documents during car delivery: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License.

If I am working from home or a remote location, how can I provide pictures of my office?

You can choose email verification or provide 3 months salary slips along with bank statements to verify your employment.
Test Drive

What happens after I book the test drive?

Sit back and relax! Once you’ve successfully booked your test drive, our executive will call you and guide you through the next steps. You can also track your booking status by visiting the My Bookings section on the CARS24 app.

How do I reschedule my test drive?

You can reschedule your test drive through the CARS24 app or by reaching out to our customer support via call or chat. Please note that once you start the rescheduling process, you’ll only be able to see those slots that are available!

What if I don’t like the car after the test drive?

That's what test drives are for — to see if the car is right for you! If you decide that you don't love the car, you will receive a full refund for the test drive deposit paid. You can then choose another car from the wide range of cars available and test-drive that one to see if it’s the one for you.

How do I cancel my test drive booking?

You can cancel your booking through the CARS24 app or by reaching out to our customer support via call or chat. If you’ve paid for the test drive you’ve booked, a refund will be initiated instantly.

When will I get the refund for my cancelled booking?

Once you've cancelled your booking, a refund of the deposit paid will be initiated instantly and will reflect in your source account within 5 to 7 working days.

How will I know if I am paying the right price for a car?

Our dedication to transparency and quality will show you that the price you're paying is right. On the CARS24 platform, we believe in delivering cars that are built to last, which is why all the cars go through 140-Quality Checks and are listed only after passing set quality standards. The car’s price is decided based on the car's condition, history, and the refurbishment work carried out.

What are the payment methods available?

Payment methods available include Net Banking, UPI, Debit Card, and Credit Card. These modes may involve additional payment gateway charges that will be clearly mentioned while making the payment. You can also do a fund transfer using NEFT/RTGS/IMPS.

Are there any additional charges involved?

The price you see on our website or app is the price that you will pay for the car. You can see a detailed break-up of the price once you have completed your booking. However, additional charges for ownership transfer may arise at a later stage. These charges will be communicated to you by our team well before the transaction.

What documents will I be required to submit at the time of purchase?

During the time of purchase, you will need self-attested copies of your PAN card, Aadhar Card and Address Proof. If any additional documents are needed as per the RTO norms, our team will get in touch with you and let you know.

What will be the RC transfer process?

Our team will take care of the entire ownership transfer process for you. This will begin from the 8th day after your purchase (after the 7-day return period ends). The process and timeline of RC transfer may vary as per the RTO, but our team will handle all the paperwork and strive to get the transfer completed within 60-75 days after receiving all the required documents. Throughout the process, they will keep giving you regular status updates so you’re always in the loop.

What will be the RC transfer charges?

The following charges may be applicable depending upon the availability of documents, registration address and the mode of payment.

NOC- No Objection Charges are applicable when transfer from one RTO to another is required

HPA- Hypothecation Addition charges are applicable if car is taken on loan

Franking Charges (only for Telangana customers) are applicable if car is taken on loan

How to raise a Warranty claim for my car?

Please refer to the Warranty Booklet for the detailed steps or you can raise a claim from the My Bookings section on your CARS24 mobile app. Alternatively, you can contact our customer support team at 1800-258-5656 to raise a claim.

Please ensure you raise the claim within 3 working days from the occurrence of the issue.

Once the repair request has been raised, our executive will get in touch with you to guide you on the next steps.

What is not covered under CARS24 Warranty?

The warranty will be applicable only to the parts which are mentioned in the warranty booklet. The following is not covered under the Warranty:

Accidental or Consequential Damage:

Any damage caused due to driving in a race, rally, off-roading, or any form of motorsport event. Damage caused due to a rash driving, road accident, or any such events

Damage to the Bodywork and Paint caused due to accidents

Car Servicing:

Routine maintenance service including cleaning, polishing, engine tuning, carbon cleaning, AC Servicing, AC gas leak, Wheel Alignment & Balancing, Tyre rotation, Calibration/reconditioning of diesel components, injector/nozzles, and fuel pump

Consumables/Wear&Tear

All Pre-existing defects observed/captured during evaluation or reported before the issue of the policy will not be covered under the warranty.

What precautions should I take to ensure the warranty remains valid?

For the warranty to continue being valid, the buyer must ensure the following after buying the car:

The car needs to be serviced by you within 6 months or 10000km (whichever occurs first) from the date of purchase

No alterations/modifications like electrical fittings, CNG/LPS kits, tyre modification, or installation of parts like bumper guards, loud horns, etc.

No commercial usage of the car

No tampering with the Odometer of the car

Please note:

The warranty has no surrender value; it cannot be cancelled or refunded.

We reserve the right to appoint an arbitrator to adjudicate the matter and the dispute shall be resolved by such arbitration. Courts in Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction on the matters arising in connection with this.

Any repair reimbursements are subject to validation by our technical team and the amount decided by them will be final and binding.

RC Transfer

How will i receive my RC card?

There are 4 ways to receive the RC card physically. While some RTOs allow to collect the RC card on buyer's behalf, whereas some RTOs only allow direct handover.The RC Card would be shared with you via either of the following modes:

Collect directly from RTO

RTO sends the RC card to the registered buyer address

Collect from Cars24 office

Cars24 sends the RC card to the registered buyer address

What happens in case I do not turn up on the scheduled Party Peshi date?

In case of no-show, the concerned RTO does not start the RC transfer process until the Party Peshi is completed. In this case a new date would be scheduled for Party Peshi and the buyer would be expected to reach the RTO on expected date, so that the RC transfer process can start.

What do i need to do in case i am called for Party Peshi?

In case you are required for Party Peshi, our executive will get in touch with you to confirm the date of your availability so that a slot can be booked with the RTO.

What is Party Peshi?

The RTOs of certain states require the presence of the vehicle owner in order to initiate the transfer of RC.

When will the RC transfer receipt be provided?

The E-receipt for the RC transfer of your car can be downloaded from the My Bookings section in the CARS24 app itself, once we receive the same from the concerned RTO.

Please note:

Not all RTO issues E-receipts. In case you are unable to download the E-receipt, it could be because E-Receipt is not generated by the RTO.

Where can I check the RC transfer status of my purchased car?

You can check the status of your car RC transfer yourself in the My Bookings section of the CARS24 mobile app. You can also contact our customer support team at 1800-258-5656 to know the status.

You can also visit www.parivahan.gov.in to get a view of the status as per the RTO records.

Insurance

How can I get the insurance of the car transferred?

If the current insurance of the car is not under your name, we recommend that you get the insurance transferred within 14 days of your transaction to ensure that the car is protected from any unforeseen situations or liabilities.Please contact the insurance provider to raise an insurance transfer request. You can share copies of the documents as required by the insurance provider- Form 29, Form 30, Insurance Transfer Form, Old RC of the car, Copy of previous insurance policy, RTO Receipt, etc.

Your car will be assessed by the insurance provider and you will be required to pay a nominal fee for the transfer.

Will CAR24 also get the insurance transferred for me?

CARS24 does not provide any insurance transfer service currently. Customers are requested to connect with the insurance provider to get the insurance transferred after receiving the RTO Receipt or after RC transfer.

If the current insurance of the car is not under your name, we recommend that you get the insurance transferred within 14 days of your transaction to ensure that the car is protected from any unforeseen situations.

Does my CARS24 purchase include insurance on the car?

Your car will have a minimum of third-party insurance valid for 90 days or more when you purchase it.

You will have to buy new insurance or get the existing insurance transferred to your name once the ownership transfer is complete.

What is Seller Insurance?

Since the purchase involved here is a pre-owned car, there may be insurance already available on the car bought by the seller earlier before selling the car to CARS24. Since we strive to provide the best benefits to our customers, we provide the same to our customers if they purchase a pre-owned vehicle from us.

Why is Seller Insurance transfer important?

In case you have opted for retaining the seller insurance provided along with your purchased pre-owned car and do not have any additional insurance cover, please ensure that you get the seller insurance transferred in your name within 14 days from the date of purchase to avoid any troubles in case the car meets with an accident in a rare scenario.

Who will get my Seller Insurance transferred?

Please note that the responsibility of getting the car’s insurance transferred lies on solely the buyer and CARS24 will not be liable once the necessary documents are shared by CARS24 with the buyer.

The CARS24 team will re-inspect your car during the return process. A full refund might not be applicable if the car has been modified, has been in an accident, or damaged/ altered from the condition it was delivered in.

Once you have raised a request to return your car, we will call you to confirm a convenient time and location for return.

Our team will do a quick check to ensure that the car is in the same condition as it was at the time of delivery and then initiate the return.

If for any reason you decide that it isn't, you can initiate a return request through the CARS24 app within 7 days of delivery. We'll then call you to confirm a convenient time and location for the return. Our team will do a quick check to ensure that the car is in the same condition as it was when it was delivered (i.e. that no modification has been done) and that it was driven for under 500 kilometers after delivery. The team will then initiate the return upon successful verification. Once all details are verified, you get a full refund which will be processed within 7 working days. Further, in the interest of fairness for our community, only 3 cars can be returned for a full refund under this policy.
